Bootstrap Bartlett correction in inflated beta regression
نویسندگان
چکیده
The inflated beta regression model aims to enable the modeling of responses in the intervals (0,1], [0,1) or [0,1]. In this model, hypothesis testing is often performed based on the likelihood ratio statistic. The critical values are obtained from asymptotic approximations, which may lead to distortions of size in small samples. In this sense, this paper proposes the bootstrap Bartlett correction to the statistic of likelihood ratio in the inflated beta regression model. The proposed adjustment only requires a simple Monte Carlo simulation. Through extensive Monte Carlo simulations the finite sample performance (size and power) of the proposed corrected test is compared to the usual likelihood ratio test and the Skovgaard adjustment already proposed in the literature. The numerical results evidence that inference based on the proposed correction is much more reliable than that based on the usual likelihood ratio statistics and the Skovgaard adjustment. At the end of the work, an application to real data is also presented.

Bootstrap versus Bartlett type correction of the Dickey-Fuller test
The bad small sample performance of unit root tests is well known and depends partly on the existence of nuisance parameters. To deal with this Johansen (2004) presents a small sample correction of the Dickey-Fuller test. The correction factor depends on biased parameter estimates. The purpose of this study is to, through simulation, compare the small sample correction with a bootstrap approach...

In this paper, we propose Hurdle regression models for analysing count responses with extra zeros. A method of estimating maximum likelihood is used to estimate model parameters. The application of the proposed model is presented in insurance dataset. In this example, there are many numbers of claims equal to zero is considered that clarify the application of the model with a zero-inflat...
متن کاملBartlett correction factors in logistic regression models
Bartlett correction factors for likelihood ratio tests of parameters in conditional and unconditional logistic regression models are calculated. The resulting tests are compared to the Wald, likelihood ratio, and score tests, and a test proposed by Moolgavkar and Venzon in Modern Statistical Methods in Chronic Disease Epidemiology, (Wiley, New York, 1986).
متن کاملCan we trust the bootstrap in high-dimension?
We consider the performance of the bootstrap in high-dimensions for the setting of linear regression, where p < n but p/n is not close to zero. We consider ordinary least-squares as well as robust regression methods and adopt a minimalist performance requirement: can the bootstrap give us good confidence intervals for a single coordinate of ? (where is the true regression vector). We show throu...
متن کاملBartlett-type adjustments for hypothesis testing in linear models with general error covariance matrices
Consider the problem of testing a linear hypothesis of regression coefficients in a general linear regression model with an error term having a covariance matrix involving several nuisance parameters. Then, the Bartlett-type adjustments of the Wald, Score, and modified Likelihood Ratio tests are derived for general consistent estimators of the unknown nuisance parameter. The adjusted test stati...
